So life is perfect right?

Uh, yeah...about that.  There is one little problem...you have to stick the chalk in the pipe so that:

1) It stays firmly in the pipe with a little bit sticking out.
2) You can pull it out as it wears down.
3) When you hand it to a six year old boy he can't just go spearfishing with it and drive the chalk so far up the pipe it takes you 10 minutes to get it out.  (I'm speaking from experience here.)

Number 3 above is the problem.  I'm an engineer, I'll figure something out eventually.  For now what I do is get a small sheet of squish-able packing material.  A thin flexible foam that has a memory.  If you squish it, it comes back to its original shape.  You wrap the chalk in that, trim with scissors, then push it firmly into the end of the pipe like this:

As the chalk wears down you can grab the foam and twist it out a little.  Works for adults but it won't survive a six year old boy.

Few things in life survive six year old boys actually.

I'll work on it.
